Solution for Another World (Out of This World)
Walkthrough by Dov Sherman
This walkthrough will take you all the way from the beginning of the
game to the end. I've left big gaps between levels so you can read the
details for one level without spoiling the next one by accident. Each
section of this walkthrough denotes a new puzzle area where, if you get
killed, you begin back at the beginning of that area. I've included the
passcode for each area. These are not the only passcodes since you
don't have to play the puzzles in the exact same order as I played
them. These passcodes simply match the levels in the order that I
played them. Playing differently may produce a few different passcodes.
Incidentally, this game has got to be one of the most INCREDIBLE games
I've ever played. Make sure you're playing with a sound card because
it's just not the same without it.
THE BEGINNING (LDKD)
Watch the introductory movie. After you get zapped, you'll reappear
underwater. Go up immediately or else the tentacles will get you. Once
on the surface, go right. Don't worry about the great hulking beast in
the background for the moment.
In the next area, slugs with stingers fall from the ceiling then crawl
across the ground to kill you. Crouch (down) and kick (button or space)
them. Make sure you kill ALL of them. Don't let any of them get close
to you or they'll sting you and you'll die. If any get by you, leave
left and return. Once you've killed all of them, go right again and
kill the slugs in that area. Then go right once more.
In this area, walk toward the right side. Before you reach the right
side, the beast will leap into your path and growl. Run left and don't
stop for anything. The beast will follow you. When the beast gets
close on your heels, leap left and keep running. After you pass the
area with the water, the next area will have a ledge with a vine hanging
past it. Keep running then leap from the ledge to the vine. You'll
grab the vine and hang there until the vine snaps, swinging you back to
the water area. Run right and don't stop. Soon you'll reach the area
where you first ran into the beast. Keep running right. As you run off
the right side, an alien will stop you, then shoot the beast. You'll
stand, wave, and grin. Then the alien will shoot you.
THE PRISON (HTDC)
You wake up in a cage with another alien who becomes your friend.
After you come to consciousness, you'll see the cage hanging from the
ceiling. Start swinging side to side. Soon, the guard below will
notice what you're doing and fire a few warning shots. Keep swinging
until the cage falls on the guard.
After you land on the guard, your friend says something alien and runs
right. Step right a little then crouch to pick up the gun that the
guard dropped, then run right. Keep running through the next area. In
the area after that, your friend sees a guard and starts running left
again. Shoot (button or space) the guard immediately then wait a few
seconds for your friend to catch up, then run right. In the next area,
let your friend stay near you. He'll have to get the doors open and
you'll have to fight off a few guards to buy him some time. Now's a
good time to explain. . .
HOW THE GUN WORKS
The gun has three functions. You can fire quickly,
shooting a red beam that will kill aliens. If you hold the trigger for
a few seconds until a blue-white blob appears barrel of the gun, when
you release the trigger, a shield appears in front of you. This shield
will stop any red beams from passing through but you can still walk
through it. If you hold the trigger even longer until you hear a loud
thrum then release the trigger, you'll fire a super-blast that will
demolish a shield, a door, a wall, pretty much anything.
While holding off the guards, don't use the super-blast because your
gun's energy is already low and you'll need the super-blast later. Just
create a shield, then wait for the guard's shield to expire, then shoot
him. Don't let your own shield expire or you'll be toasted. When your
friend gets the door open, follow him out to the right.
You come to a platform in a shaft. Stand on the platform with your
friend, then go up. When you reach the top, go over to the window on
the right. You'll see a view of the city. Actually, this part isn't
necessary to complete the game but it helps set the mood and seems a
shame to skip it.
Get back on the platform and go two floors down (one floor past the one
you started on). Go to the left and you'll be blocked by a door that
you can't open. Below you is a guard behind some doors. Below his feet
is a little blue power line leading down. Go back to the right and hop
on the platform. Go down to the bottom of the shaft. Run to the left
and, as soon as you reach the next room, fire the gun quickly. In fact,
start firing as soon as the computer pauses to swap views between
rooms. After you've successfully toasted the guard lying in wait for
you, wait for his bones to crumble, then fire into the left wall,
disarming the power line leading up.
Now go back up the floor immediately above you. Let your friend catch
up with you, then use a super-blast to destroy the door. Then run to
the left and stand on that gap in the floor. The gap isn't really a
hole in the floor but a teleporter. Immediately teleport down and run
left. Be quick because when the guard behind the doors discovers that
his doors won't open for him, he starts super-blasting them to dust to
follow you. In the next area, teleport up and run to the left. A guard
appears beyond the left door and starts trying to open the door. Your
friend catches up to you and opens a floor panel. Step into the floor
panel and you'll land in a pipe of some kind. Above you, your friend is
too big to fit in the pipe; you'll just have to go on without him.
Don't worry, he can take care of himself. Just roll to the left and
drop down the pipe.
THE PIPES (CLLD)
In the pipes, roll a little ways to the left until you're next to the
deadly poison steam jet. Wait for a break in the steam, then roll
through. Roll to the left, drop down, then roll to the right. There's
another steam jet at the second blue line in the pipe. Wait for a break
then roll past it and drop down the next pipe. Now there are steam jets
immediately on either side of you. Wait for a break and roll past the
steam jet on the right. Keep rolling right, drop down, roll left, drop
down.
THE RE-CHARGER (LBKG)
You land in a large room. A door opens to your left, enter the chamber
and energy courses out of the left wall. It's a nice effect and it
recharges your gun. Now walk back out to the right and you're stopped
by several doors that won't open, super-blast each door, go back and
recharge your gun, then run out the right.
Run through the tunnel to the right. Outside, you find another guard.
Kill him quickly. In the foreground, you see your friend running,
pursued by guards. Run to the right.
You come a bridge that has been blasted in half. Get a running start
and leap for the other side. You miss the jump but land on a cliff
below. Turn to the wall on the right and super-blast a hole in it.
Enter the hole.
IN THE CAVERNS (XDDJ)
Now you're in the caverns below the next building. Go to the right and
drop down the first hole. You fall and land on an oddly colored piece
of rock wedged in a hole. Go the right and drop down through that next
hole. You land on a large, T-shaped rock formation. Drop off the right
side of the formation and run out to the right. You come to an ledge
overlooking some stalagmites (pointing up from the floor). Get a
running start and leap over them. Then go right.
In the next room, rocks fall from above. Find a pattern to the falling
rocks and get past them to the next room the the right. More falling
rocks. Get past them and watch out for the tentacles above you. Run
past the tentacles because they can't get you if you keep running.
In the next room, run past the tentacles and leap over the jaws on the
ground. More jaws ahead. You can do a standing jump over these. Go
right.
More tentacles and floor jaws. Use super-blasts to destroy all the
tentacles. A red beam will make them retract for a few moments but you
can just hold the super-blast until they come back down. After you
finish off the tentacles, you'll have to get past the floor jaws. The
middle and rightmost floor jaws are so close together that you can only
get past them with a running jump. This means you'll have to use a
running jump past the leftmost floor jaw so that you can keep jumping
past the other two. Tricky to time but it can be done. Get past the
floor jaws and go right.
Use a standing jump to over the hole in the floor, then another
standing jump over the floor jaws. Then go right.
Here the caverns meet up with an empty well. Later in the game, you'll
be at the top of the well and need to get across. Use a super-blast to
open the well into the caverns for now.
MORE CAVERNS (FXLC)
Go left back past the floor jaws and tentacles until you reach the
first falling rocks area you came to. Now you're on a higher path while
the rocks fall harmlessly on the lower path. When you see the red
dragonlet hanging from the ceiling, fire a red beam at him. He'll get
spooked and fly off to the left. Follow him but be careful not to fall
off the ledge. Watch as the dragonlet gets eaten by the tentacles.
This keeps the tentacles occupied as you leap from the ledge to the
stalactite (hanging down). Climb up the stalactite as high as you can
and leap to the next stalactite to the left. Keep doing this until you
leap off the left side of screen.
This lands you on top of that T-shaped rock formation. Now step of the
left side of the formation and super-blast the support from under the
formation. It falls over on it's side, becoming a handy exit ramp back
up to the caverns above you. Go up the ramp and head to the right.
Keep going to the right, being careful to jump over those holes in the
floor, until you are under a reservoir. From the leftmost edge of the
screen, use a super-blast to destroy the bit of rock below the reservoir
and start running left. You've unleashed a torrent of water. Keep
running to the left, leaping over all the holes. In the room with two
holes, you can make running jumps over both if you time it right but you
can make a standing jump over the second if you've run fast enough and
still make it across. Jump over the hole in the last one and get onto
the oddly colored wegde. The rushing water blasts the wedge, with you
on it, to the cavern above.
Now head over to the right until you reach a wall. Super-blast the
wall and head right. Go up the stairs in the next area, then go to the
right again. You pass by an algae covered area. This used to be a
waterfall until you let the water out of the reservoir. Keep going to
the right.
ANOTHER BUILDING (KLFB)
As you enter the top floor of the building, your friend pops out into a
pipe beneath the floor. Watch for a few moments as he crawls forward
and is stuck behind a metal thing in the pipe. Now go left back to the
stairs and head down. Then go right, cross the ex-waterfall, and arrive
in a room with chandeliers. Go down the stairs and when you're about
3/4 of the way across the room, a guard steps in from the right. If you
time this right, you can zap him before he has a chance to react. Kill
the guard, and head right.
The next room has a teleporter at the base of some stairs about halfway
up. Ignore the teleporter for now and go right. As you leave the room,
a guard punches you in the face, knocking you down and sending your gun
flying from your hand. The guard picks you up from the floor and starts
talking at you. When your head comes up, kick him (button or space),
then run to your gun, crouch to grab it, and come up firing at him. Do
it without pausing and you'll fry him before he gets a clear shot at
you. After you kill the guard, go right once more.
This room is really hard. You're in a corridor, as you reach the point
about halfway between the first and second pillars, guards approach from
both sides. My technique is to go a 1/3 past the first pillar, erect a
shield to the right, turn around, crouch, erect a shield to the left,
then turn back to the right and walk just far enough to make the guards
enter. Make another shield to the right, turn left, make a right
shield, super-blast the left guard's shield, then shoot him. Turn
right, make a shield, super-blast the right guard's shield, then shoot
him. You gotta be quick to do this part. If you get killed, you start
back where you see you friend in the tunnel. You don't actually have to
kill these guards right at this point. You _could_ do other things
first and kill them last but I prefer to go after them first since the
rest of the stuff is easy compared to these two.
Now go back to the left to the room with the chandeliers. Stand at the
top of the stairs and shoot the middle chandelier. This loosens the
thing blocking the tunnel where your friend is. Now head left past the
ex-waterfall, go up the stairs, then head right to where you friend is
no longer trapped. Make a shield about 2/3 along towards the right side
of the room then head into the room to the right. As you enter, you see
your friend slide past in the lower left corner and a guard enters on
the right. Go back to the left past your shield, turn and wait for the
guard behind the safety of your shield. Shoot the guard as he enters.
Then go right. Continue right through the next room.
In the next room, you see a fleeing guard. If you shoot at him, you'll
just miss. Don't go down the stairs yet. Follow the guard into the
next room to the right. In this room, the guard is hiding behind three
doors and a shield. If you step through the door, he'll shoot you. If
you make a shield before opening the door, he'll drop little bombs on
the floor that can roll right under your shield and kill you. The trick
is to make a shield, then open the door and, when he drops a bomb, back
up so that the door closes. The bomb bounces off the door and kills the
guard. After the guard is thoroughly dead and there are no bombs on the
floor, go through the door and super-blast the door behind the dead
guard's shield. Then go right.
Above you is a re-charger. You can use it but it doesn't seem to
really matter because you never run out of gun energy after the first
re-charger. But do it anyway because the animation is really nice. Now
go right to the next area. This area overlooks a domed area with some
green spheres hanging from the ceiling. Look at the spheres and you'll
see a tan dot reflected on them moving back and forth. This is a guard
who you can hear pacing in the room below you. Crouch and wait
patiently for the guard to stop pacing directly below the sphere, then
fire, causing the sphere to fall on him. Do not fire until he has
actually stopped beneath the sphere. Then go left to the staircase
where the fleeing guard was and go down.
Use the teleporter to get to the floor and head right until you reach
some water. This water was the empty well whose wall you shot out
earlier and which is now filled from the water in the reservoir you
emptied. Jump into the water and swim down.
THE GROTTO (BFLX)
When you reach the tunnel at the bottom, swim left into the tunnel and
keep swimming through the next room. Do not pause because you'll run
out of air quickly if you dilly-dally. In the next room there is a
shaft leading down and two shafts leading up. Swim up the leftmost
shaft leading up. At the top of the shaft is an air pocket where you
can catch your breath. After you dog paddle in the air pocket for a few
moments, swim down again to the room with the shafts. Now swim down the
shaft leading down. In the lower chamber, swim over to the ledge and
climb out into the underground grotto.
Do a standing jump to the right which just barely clears the floor
jaws. Then walk to the right and shoot the power line in the wall.
Then go back to the left. I've always used a running jump to get back
into the water but a standing jump might be alright.
Once back in the water, swim up to the air pocket for more air, then
swim down and back up the well to the surface. Then swim to the right
side of the well and climb out. Walk to the right and you'll see the
dead guard who the green sphere fell on. Continue walking to the next
room where there's a shaft in the floor leading down.
HOT PURSUIT (BRTD)
Drop down through the hole in the floor and immediately use a
super-blast to shoot out the down on your right. Since you managed to
shoot out that power line in the grotto, the left door is jammed which
slows down the guards since they have to super-blast it open. As soon
as you have the right door blasted, start running to the right. There
will be more doors but these will open for you without trouble. Don't
stop to repel the shooting guards, just keep running. The doors close
behind you as you run but the guards super-blast them open again. Above
you, your friend crawls along a tunnel.
When you reach the end of the tunnel, get beneath the panel in the
ceiling, then turn and fight off the guards. You'll have to kill
probably between three and five guards to buy enough time. Soon, the
panel will open and your friend will poke his head down. When he
reaches an arm down, make sure you have a shield constructed for safety
then stand beneath his arm and he'll pull you to safety.
SNEAK ATTACK (TFBB)
Back in the open air, your friend sets you down beside the hole.
Below, the guards shoot up, loosening rocks above to fall through the
hole onto them. Your friend runs off to the right. Run to the left
side of the screen, then run right. Gunshots come from inside the
building to the right where your friend went. By running left first,
you are now on a back ledge that takes you around the building instead
of through it. Run to the right and you'll pass behind the building,
visible in the windows. Inside, the guards have your friend at
gunpoint. When you pass the building, run left inside and kill the
right guard. If you're fast enough, you can use the guard's own shield
for defense and blast him before he has time to erect another shield.
Meanwhile, your attack has given your friend the distraction to attack
the left guard in a fist fight. You MUST kill the right guard before
your friend finishes off the left guard or else the right guard will
kill your friend and you can't finish the game without him.
When both guards are dead, run with your friend to the right until you
reach the ledge. Wait a few moments until your friend beckons you to
the edge. Walk to the edge and he'll throw you over to bounce off the
awning on the right side, landing on the opposite ledge. You have to
let him throw you across because you can't make the jump on your own.
Next your friend tries to jump across but he's too heavy for the awning
and winds up hanging precariously from the end of it. Make a standing
jump to the left and you'll grab onto the edge of a lower awning and
swing down to a passage to the left.
In this passage, two guards will run out to shoot you. They're tough
to beat. My technique is as soon as I land in the passage, I run a few
steps back to the right, then turn, crouch, and make a shield. Then I
super-blast the first guard's shield then shoot the guard. At this
point, the second guard takes a few steps forward and erects a second
shield. If I hadn't taken those first steps to the right, he'd be able
to reach right past my shield and shoot me. Now make a new shield,
super-blast his shield, then shoot him dead. When you've finished off
both guards, run to the left and keep going through the next room.
DOORS, BOMBS, AND A HOLE IN THE FLOOR (TXHF)
Keep running to the left. In the room with the staircase, keep running
or the hidden guards will shoot you. Don't go up the staircase yet.
Keep going to the left. In the next area, three unarmed guards run away
from you. Don't shoot them. Stop for a second and you'll see one of
the guards get trapped behind a door and a gate. Walk up to the door
until it opens, then crouch and point your gun at the guard. He'll
raises his hands in surrender, then reach up and push a blinking red
button which is apparently the emergency shut for the doors in this
room. Now go back to the stairs and head up.
At the top of the stairs is a guard behind a door. Leap over to the
right, turn around, make a shield, then super-blast his door. Since you
have a shield up, he'll drop some bombs but these will slide harmlessly
down the stairs. As they go down the stairs, you'll hear some
explosions. After he's dropped four bombs, shoot him. Now run past his
rapidly decaying skeleton, stand on the teleporter, turn to face right,
then teleport down.
Immediately crouch and make two shields to your right. The guard on
the right will super-blast the door between you and start revving up
another super-blast to take out your shield. Make a super-blast to take
out his shield and then shoot him. This may be a close thing so don't
waste any time.
Now run over to the teleporter on the right and zip down. You appear
in small room with a powerline on the right. Shoot the powerline and
teleport back out. Use the other teleporter to teleport up again and
then run down the stairs and fall through the hole in the floor made by
the bombs.
In the underground corridor, run to the right. The next room is pitch
dark thanks to that powerline you shot out. Keep running non-stop to
the right. You pass over a grating on the floor where the guards shoot
blindly up, missing you because of the darkness.
As you enter the next room, stop immediately. The light will return
and you'll see a hole in the floor that looks like a teleporter but it
really just a hole in the floor. If you drop through the hole, you'll
be in a courtyard with several of those huge beasts (like the one that
chased you back in the beginning) inside cages where, running to either
side would drop you into a pack of guards. Instead of just heading down
the hole right away, jump over the hole to the right and pull down the
lever sticking out of the right wall. This opens the cages below you as
you can hear by the roars of the beasts and screams of the guards.
Now drop through the hole and start running to the right. In all the
chaos, the guards won't be able to stop you. Keep running to the right
and soon you'll reach a long teleporter above you at the end of the
hall.
Go up the teleporter and then head to the left. You'll come out just
below your friend, still hanging onto that awning. Step up to the edge
and you'll release a bridge that your friend can drop down onto. Now
follow your friend to the right where you'll ride another teleporter
up. At the top of the teleporter, follow your friend down the ramp to
the right and into the juggernaut.
THE JUGGERNAUT (CKJL)
As you get situated in the juggernaut, it rolls out into the middle of
an arena where thousands of aliens cheer to the slaughter of the alien
gladiators. After a few moments, a cutaway view will appear in the
upper left corner of the screen. Use the arrows keys to position your
hand above a button, which will light up to let you know which button
you're pointing at, and the fire button or space bar to hit a button.
Some buttons are weapons, some buttons make new buttons appear. Some
just turn colors when you press them. Eventually, after hitting the two
buttons that turn green and the two buttons that turn red, a long white
button will appear. Press it and you and your friend will be shot out
of the juggernaut in escape pods.
THE ESCAPE (LFCK)
Your escape pod lands in the middle of an alien bathhouse where lots of
naked alien women are lounging. As you land, they scream and swim
away. Guards rush in. Run out of the bathhouse and to the right.
As you come onto the bridge leading away, guards approach from the
right. Use the shield-super-blast-fire technique to kill the guards.
There will be at least four guards. When no more guards approach, run
to the right and keep going.
In the next area, your friend breaks through a stained glass window and
starts running beside you. Keep going right.
In the next area, your friend is a few steps ahead of you when a blast
from the foreground takes out the floor beneath you. Jumping won't
help. You fall from the bridge as your friend looks around in
confusion.
As you fall, an arm reaches out to grab you, pulling you up onto a
lower ledge. This alien is a real meanie (you can tell by his red
eyes). The bad alien slams you against the wall and then punts you off
to the right. As he walks towards you, he doesn't see your friend drop
down onto the ledge behind him.
Start crawling to the right and keep crawling. Behind you, your friend
gets the jump on the bad alien and they start fighting. Crawl, crawl
like you've never crawled before, to the set of levers on the right
side.
Soon, the bad alien throws your friend over the ledge and starts
towards you. Below, your friend hangs onto the ledge by his
fingertips. As the bad alien reaches the middle of the purple thing on
the left, use the fire button or space bar to pull that lever. A huge
super-super-blast zaps the bad alien into charcoal.
Now pull another lever, opening the super-teleporter above you and
immediately start crawling left. Don't stop crawling because the guards
are catching up. The first two shots will miss you but, if you stop,
the third shot will kill you. When you crawl under the teleporter,
you'll be transported up to the roof.
Congratulations. You've won the game. Now sit back and watch the closing
film.

hole in the floor but a teleporter. Immediately teleport down and run
left. Be quick because when the guard behind the doors discovers that
his doors won't open for him, he starts super-blasting them to dust to
follow you. In the next area, teleport up and run to the left. A guard
appears beyond the left door and starts trying to open the door. Your
friend catches up to you and opens a floor panel. Step into the floor
panel and you'll land in a pipe of some kind. Above you, your friend is
too big to fit in the pipe; you'll just have to go on without him.
Don't worry, he can take care of himself. Just roll to the left and
drop down the pipe.
THE PIPES (CLLD)
In the pipes, roll a little ways to the left until you're next to the
deadly poison steam jet. Wait for a break in the steam, then roll
through. Roll to the left, drop down, then roll to the right. There's
another steam jet at the second blue line in the pipe. Wait for a break
then roll past it and drop down the next pipe. Now there are steam jets
immediately on either side of you. Wait for a break and roll past the
steam jet on the right. Keep rolling right, drop down, roll left, drop
down.
THE RE-CHARGER (LBKG)
You land in a large room. A door opens to your left, enter the chamber
and energy courses out of the left wall. It's a nice effect and it
recharges your gun. Now walk back out to the right and you're stopped
by several doors that won't open, super-blast each door, go back and
recharge your gun, then run out the right.
Run through the tunnel to the right. Outside, you find another guard.
Kill him quickly. In the foreground, you see your friend running,
pursued by guards. Run to the right.
You come a bridge that has been blasted in half. Get a running start
and leap for the other side. You miss the jump but land on a cliff
below. Turn to the wall on the right and super-blast a hole in it.
Enter the hole.
IN THE CAVERNS (XDDJ)
Now you're in the caverns below the next building. Go to the right and
drop down the first hole. You fall and land on an oddly colored piece
of rock wedged in a hole. Go the right and drop down through that next
hole. You land on a large, T-shaped rock formation. Drop off the right
side of the formation and run out to the right. You come to an ledge
overlooking some stalagmites (pointing up from the floor). Get a
running start and leap over them. Then go right.
In the next room, rocks fall from above. Find a pattern to the falling
rocks and get past them to the next room the the right. More falling
rocks. Get past them and watch out for the tentacles above you. Run
past the tentacles because they can't get you if you keep running.
In the next room, run past the tentacles and leap over the jaws on the
ground. More jaws ahead. You can do a standing jump over these. Go
right.
More tentacles and floor jaws. Use super-blasts to destroy all the
tentacles. A red beam will make them retract for a few moments but you
can just hold the super-blast until they come back down. After you
finish off the tentacles, you'll have to get past the floor jaws. The
middle and rightmost floor jaws are so close together that you can only
get past them with a running jump. This means you'll have to use a
running jump past the leftmost floor jaw so that you can keep jumping
past the other two. Tricky to time but it can be done. Get past the
floor jaws and go right.
Use a standing jump to over the hole in the floor, then another
standing jump over the floor jaws. Then go right.
Here the caverns meet up with an empty well. Later in the game, you'll
be at the top of the well and need to get across. Use a super-blast to
open the well into the caverns for now.
MORE CAVERNS (FXLC)
Go left back past the floor jaws and tentacles until you reach the
first falling rocks area you came to. Now you're on a higher path while
the rocks fall harmlessly on the lower path. When you see the red
dragonlet hanging from the ceiling, fire a red beam at him. He'll get
spooked and fly off to the left. Follow him but be careful not to fall
off the ledge. Watch as the dragonlet gets eaten by the tentacles.
This keeps the tentacles occupied as you leap from the ledge to the
stalactite (hanging down). Climb up the stalactite as high as you can
and leap to the next stalactite to the left. Keep doing this until you
leap off the left side of screen.
This lands you on top of that T-shaped rock formation. Now step of the
left side of the formation and super-blast the support from under the
formation. It falls over on it's side, becoming a handy exit ramp back
up to the caverns above you. Go up the ramp and head to the right.
Keep going to the right, being careful to jump over those holes in the
floor, until you are under a reservoir. From the leftmost edge of the
screen, use a super-blast to destroy the bit of rock below the reservoir
and start running left. You've unleashed a torrent of water. Keep
running to the left, leaping over all the holes. In the room with two
holes, you can make running jumps over both if you time it right but you
can make a standing jump over the second if you've run fast enough and
still make it across. Jump over the hole in the last one and get onto
the oddly colored wegde. The rushing water blasts the wedge, with you
on it, to the cavern above.
Now head over to the right until you reach a wall. Super-blast the
wall and head right. Go up the stairs in the next area, then go to the
right again. You pass by an algae covered area. This used to be a
waterfall until you let the water out of the reservoir. Keep going to
the right.
ANOTHER BUILDING (KLFB)
As you enter the top floor of the building, your friend pops out into a
pipe beneath the floor. Watch for a few moments as he crawls forward
and is stuck behind a metal thing in the pipe. Now go left back to the
stairs and head down. Then go right, cross the ex-waterfall, and arrive
in a room with chandeliers. Go down the stairs and when you're about
3/4 of the way across the room, a guard steps in from the right. If you
time this right, you can zap him before he has a chance to react. Kill
the guard, and head right.
The next room has a teleporter at the base of some stairs about halfway
up. Ignore the teleporter for now and go right. As you leave the room,
a guard punches you in the face, knocking you down and sending your gun
flying from your hand. The guard picks you up from the floor and starts
talking at you. When your head comes up, kick him (button or space),
then run to your gun, crouch to grab it, and come up firing at him. Do
it without pausing and you'll fry him before he gets a clear shot at
you. After you kill the guard, go right once more.
This room is really hard. You're in a corridor, as you reach the point
about halfway between the first and second pillars, guards approach from
both sides. My technique is to go a 1/3 past the first pillar, erect a
shield to the right, turn around, crouch, erect a shield to the left,
then turn back to the right and walk just far enough to make the guards
enter. Make another shield to the right, turn left, make a right
shield, super-blast the left guard's shield, then shoot him. Turn
right, make a shield, super-blast the right guard's shield, then shoot
him. You gotta be quick to do this part. If you get killed, you start
back where you see you friend in the tunnel. You don't actually have to
kill these guards right at this point. You _could_ do other things
first and kill them last but I prefer to go after them first since the
rest of the stuff is easy compared to these two.
Now go back to the left to the room with the chandeliers. Stand at the
top of the stairs and shoot the middle chandelier. This loosens the
thing blocking the tunnel where your friend is. Now head left past the
ex-waterfall, go up the stairs, then head right to where you friend is
no longer trapped. Make a shield about 2/3 along towards the right side
of the room then head into the room to the right. As you enter, you see
your friend slide past in the lower left corner and a guard enters on
the right. Go back to the left past your shield, turn and wait for the
guard behind the safety of your shield. Shoot the guard as he enters.
Then go right. Continue right through the next room.
In the next room, you see a fleeing guard. If you shoot at him, you'll
just miss. Don't go down the stairs yet. Follow the guard into the
next room to the right. In this room, the guard is hiding behind three
doors and a shield. If you step through the door, he'll shoot you. If
you make a shield before opening the door, he'll drop little bombs on
the floor that can roll right under your shield and kill you. The trick
is to make a shield, then open the door and, when he drops a bomb, back
up so that the door closes. The bomb bounces off the door and kills the
guard. After the guard is thoroughly dead and there are no bombs on the
floor, go through the door and super-blast the door behind the dead
guard's shield. Then go right.
Above you is a re-charger. You can use it but it doesn't seem to
really matter because you never run out of gun energy after the first
re-charger. But do it anyway because the animation is really nice. Now
go right to the next area. This area overlooks a domed area with some
green spheres hanging from the ceiling. Look at the spheres and you'll
see a tan dot reflected on them moving back and forth. This is a guard
who you can hear pacing in the room below you. Crouch and wait
patiently for the guard to stop pacing directly below the sphere, then
fire, causing the sphere to fall on him. Do not fire until he has
actually stopped beneath the sphere. Then go left to the staircase
where the fleeing guard was and go down.
Use the teleporter to get to the floor and head right until you reach
some water. This water was the empty well whose wall you shot out
earlier and which is now filled from the water in the reservoir you
emptied. Jump into the water and swim down.
THE GROTTO (BFLX)
When you reach the tunnel at the bottom, swim left into the tunnel and
keep swimming through the next room. Do not pause because you'll run
out of air quickly if you dilly-dally. In the next room there is a
shaft leading down and two shafts leading up. Swim up the leftmost
shaft leading up. At the top of the shaft is an air pocket where you
can catch your breath. After you dog paddle in the air pocket for a few
moments, swim down again to the room with the shafts. Now swim down the
shaft leading down. In the lower chamber, swim over to the ledge and
climb out into the underground grotto.
Do a standing jump to the right which just barely clears the floor
jaws. Then walk to the right and shoot the power line in the wall.
Then go back to the left. I've always used a running jump to get back
into the water but a standing jump might be alright.
Once back in the water, swim up to the air pocket for more air, then
swim down and back up the well to the surface. Then swim to the right
side of the well and climb out. Walk to the right and you'll see the
dead guard who the green sphere fell on. Continue walking to the next
room where there's a shaft in the floor leading down.
HOT PURSUIT (BRTD)
Drop down through the hole in the floor and immediately use a
super-blast to shoot out the down on your right. Since you managed to
shoot out that power line in the grotto, the left door is jammed which
slows down the guards since they have to super-blast it open. As soon
as you have the right door blasted, start running to the right. There
will be more doors but these will open for you without trouble. Don't
stop to repel the shooting guards, just keep running. The doors close
behind you as you run but the guards super-blast them open again. Above
you, your friend crawls along a tunnel.
When you reach the end of the tunnel, get beneath the panel in the
ceiling, then turn and fight off the guards. You'll have to kill
probably between three and five guards to buy enough time. Soon, the
panel will open and your friend will poke his head down. When he
reaches an arm down, make sure you have a shield constructed for safety
then stand beneath his arm and he'll pull you to safety.
SNEAK ATTACK (TFBB)
Back in the open air, your friend sets you down beside the hole.
Below, the guards shoot up, loosening rocks above to fall through the
hole onto them. Your friend runs off to the right. Run to the left
side of the screen, then run right. Gunshots come from inside the
building to the right where your friend went. By running left first,
you are now on a back ledge that takes you around the building instead
of through it. Run to the right and you'll pass behind the building,
visible in the windows. Inside, the guards have your friend at
gunpoint. When you pass the building, run left inside and kill the
right guard. If you're fast enough, you can use the guard's own shield
for defense and blast him before he has time to erect another shield.
Meanwhile, your attack has given your friend the distraction to attack
the left guard in a fist fight. You MUST kill the right guard before
your friend finishes off the left guard or else the right guard will
kill your friend and you can't finish the game without him.
When both guards are dead, run with your friend to the right until you
reach the ledge. Wait a few moments until your friend beckons you to
the edge. Walk to the edge and he'll throw you over to bounce off the
awning on the right side, landing on the opposite ledge. You have to
let him throw you across because you can't make the jump on your own.
Next your friend tries to jump across but he's too heavy for the awning
and winds up hanging precariously from the end of it. Make a standing
jump to the left and you'll grab onto the edge of a lower awning and
swing down to a passage to the left.
In this passage, two guards will run out to shoot you. They're tough
to beat. My technique is as soon as I land in the passage, I run a few
steps back to the right, then turn, crouch, and make a shield. Then I
super-blast the first guard's shield then shoot the guard. At this
point, the second guard takes a few steps forward and erects a second
shield. If I hadn't taken those first steps to the right, he'd be able
to reach right past my shield and shoot me. Now make a new shield,
super-blast his shield, then shoot him dead. When you've finished off
both guards, run to the left and keep going through the next room.
DOORS, BOMBS, AND A HOLE IN THE FLOOR (TXHF)
Keep running to the left. In the room with the staircase, keep running
or the hidden guards will shoot you. Don't go up the staircase yet.
Keep going to the left. In the next area, three unarmed guards run away
from you. Don't shoot them. Stop for a second and you'll see one of
the guards get trapped behind a door and a gate. Walk up to the door
until it opens, then crouch and point your gun at the guard. He'll
raises his hands in surrender, then reach up and push a blinking red
button which is apparently the emergency shut for the doors in this
room. Now go back to the stairs and head up.
At the top of the stairs is a guard behind a door. Leap over to the
right, turn around, make a shield, then super-blast his door. Since you
have a shield up, he'll drop some bombs but these will slide harmlessly
down the stairs. As they go down the stairs, you'll hear some
explosions. After he's dropped four bombs, shoot him. Now run past his
rapidly decaying skeleton, stand on the teleporter, turn to face right,
then teleport down.
Immediately crouch and make two shields to your right. The guard on
the right will super-blast the door between you and start revving up
another super-blast to take out your shield. Make a super-blast to take
out his shield and then shoot him. This may be a close thing so don't
waste any time.
Now run over to the teleporter on the right and zip down. You appear
in small room with a powerline on the right. Shoot the powerline and
teleport back out. Use the other teleporter to teleport up again and
then run down the stairs and fall through the hole in the floor made by
the bombs.
In the underground corridor, run to the right. The next room is pitch
dark thanks to that powerline you shot out. Keep running non-stop to
the right. You pass over a grating on the floor where the guards shoot
blindly up, missing you because of the darkness.
As you enter the next room, stop immediately. The light will return
and you'll see a hole in the floor that looks like a teleporter but it
really just a hole in the floor. If you drop through the hole, you'll
be in a courtyard with several of those huge beasts (like the one that
chased you back in the beginning) inside cages where, running to either
side would drop you into a pack of guards. Instead of just heading down
the hole right away, jump over the hole to the right and pull down the
lever sticking out of the right wall. This opens the cages below you as
you can hear by the roars of the beasts and screams of the guards.
Now drop through the hole and start running to the right. In all the
chaos, the guards won't be able to stop you. Keep running to the right
and soon you'll reach a long teleporter above you at the end of the
hall.
Go up the teleporter and then head to the left. You'll come out just
below your friend, still hanging onto that awning. Step up to the edge
and you'll release a bridge that your friend can drop down onto. Now
follow your friend to the right where you'll ride another teleporter
up. At the top of the teleporter, follow your friend down the ramp to
the right and into the juggernaut.
THE JUGGERNAUT (CKJL)
As you get situated in the juggernaut, it rolls out into the middle of
an arena where thousands of aliens cheer to the slaughter of the alien
gladiators. After a few moments, a cutaway view will appear in the
upper left corner of the screen. Use the arrows keys to position your
hand above a button, which will light up to let you know which button
you're pointing at, and the fire button or space bar to hit a button.
Some buttons are weapons, some buttons make new buttons appear. Some
just turn colors when you press them. Eventually, after hitting the two
buttons that turn green and the two buttons that turn red, a long white
button will appear. Press it and you and your friend will be shot out
of the juggernaut in escape pods.
THE ESCAPE (LFCK)
Your escape pod lands in the middle of an alien bathhouse where lots of
naked alien women are lounging. As you land, they scream and swim
away. Guards rush in. Run out of the bathhouse and to the right.
As you come onto the bridge leading away, guards approach from the
right. Use the shield-super-blast-fire technique to kill the guards.
There will be at least four guards. When no more guards approach, run
to the right and keep going.
In the next area, your friend breaks through a stained glass window and
starts running beside you. Keep going right.
In the next area, your friend is a few steps ahead of you when a blast
from the foreground takes out the floor beneath you. Jumping won't
help. You fall from the bridge as your friend looks around in
confusion.
As you fall, an arm reaches out to grab you, pulling you up onto a
lower ledge. This alien is a real meanie (you can tell by his red
eyes). The bad alien slams you against the wall and then punts you off
to the right. As he walks towards you, he doesn't see your friend drop
down onto the ledge behind him.
Start crawling to the right and keep crawling. Behind you, your friend
gets the jump on the bad alien and they start fighting. Crawl, crawl
like you've never crawled before, to the set of levers on the right
side.
Soon, the bad alien throws your friend over the ledge and starts
towards you. Below, your friend hangs onto the ledge by his
fingertips. As the bad alien reaches the middle of the purple thing on
the left, use the fire button or space bar to pull that lever. A huge
super-super-blast zaps the bad alien into charcoal.
Now pull another lever, opening the super-teleporter above you and
immediately start crawling left. Don't stop crawling because the guards
are catching up. The first two shots will miss you but, if you stop,
the third shot will kill you. When you crawl under the teleporter,
you'll be transported up to the roof.
Congratulations. You've won the game. Now sit back and watch the closing
film.

The Solve

Keyboard Controls

You can only kick at the beginning of the game when you don't have a
gun. After you pick up the laser gun, the shift, control, and option
keys act as the fire button. Press the fire button down briefly to
point the gun and hold it down a little longer to fire. To activate a
shield, hold the fire button down until the gun starts to hum and then
release. To fire a large laser blast, hold the fire button down until
the ball of energy that appears on the tip of your laser gets larger.
Scene 1 - LDKD
After the nice lab explosion, you appear in a water filled pit on
another world. Press up to swim to the top and up and right to get out.
Go right and kill all those little beasties in the next two screens.
Then keep going right. At about halfway thru the third screen over from
the water, a beast will appear. Run left and just keep running. At the
ledge, jump on the rope. You'll swing back right. Now keep running
right. After you run into the alien, just watch and do nothing.
Scene 2 - HTDC
OK, now you're in a cage. Start swinging left and right. After it
lands on the alien, pick up his gun. Run two screens right and kill the
alien. Move to the right side of the screen and shoot two aliens as
they come from the left. Then go to the next screen to the right, and
your bud should be trying to open the door. Set some shields (hold down
fire until a little glow appears at the end of your gun, then release
it). Set like 2-3 shields to be safe. When the doors to your right
open up, follow your friend right. Take the elevator to the bottom.
Walk into the next screen to the left, shooting as you go. The aim is
to kill a guy as soon as you enter the room. After you kill him, shoot
the little light on the wall. Then take the elevator up one floor. Go
left and blow a hole in the wall (hold down fire until a large glowing
ball appears on your gun, and release it). Then run left and stand over
the teleporter (hole in the floor) and push down. Then continue to run
left. Go up the next teleporter. (Make sure your bud is with you.) Go
left through the door. Your bud will come behind you and open a hole in
the floor. Go down it.
Scene 3 - CLLD
OK, you're rollin' in the pipes. I'll tell you the path, you just avoid
the steam. Left all the way. Fall. Right. Fall. Right. Fall.
Left. Fall. Right. Fall.
Scene 4 - LBKG
Go left and charge your gun. Shoot through the three walls (overload
gun technique). Run right. Shoot the alien on the bridge, and then
move to the edge of the bridge. Jump out and you'll land on a ledge.
Shoot a hole in the wall.
Scene 5 - XDDJ
Fall down first hole to your right. Do this again. You should be
standing on a balancing rock. Go right. Jump over the stalag's and
then continue going right avoiding the falling rocks. You should
encounter some hanging beasties. You can shoot some and they'll go up.
If you can shoot it, use a large laser blast to destroy it. Continue
right avoiding all beasties until you get to a wall. Shoot a hole in
it.
Scene 6 - FXLC
After shooting a hole in the wall, proceed back left. When you get to
where the rocks fall, take the high road, and you'll get to a ledge.
Then go one screen right, and shoot at the bird. Go back left and the
bird will follow you. Run and jump off the ledge and you'll grab onto
the first stalactite. Wait here until the beastie starts to eat the
bird. Then continue left on the stalactites by sliding up them and then
pushing left. Eventually, you'll be on top of the balancing rock.
Scene 7 - KRFK
Fall off the left side of the balancing rock and use a large laser blast
on its base. Then run up it. Continue right, jumping over the pits as
they come. Then use a large laser blast to shoot the foundation out
from under the water. Now run like the wind (left), but make sure not
to fall in the pits. After proceeding left, you'll be standing on a
rock that will get shot up by water underneath it. Now go right.
You'll go up a ramp and then shoot a hole in the wall. Go right, and
then up the stairs. Then continue to go right.
Scene 8 - KLFB
You should be in a room with a bunch of pillars, and your bud should be
crawling underneath you. Go right. Kill the alien. A good strategy to
killing these guys is to set up shields, and then use a large laser
blast to destroy his shield, followed by a quick laser blast to kill
him. After killing him, go right and down the stairs. Go left. Kill
the guy. Then go up the stairs and shoot the middle lamp. You just
released your friend. Now run right and continue to run right. You'll
run into an alien. After he picks you up, press fire to kick him where
it hurts. Run toward your gun, and then press down. You'll roll and
pick up your gun. Stay crouched and just keep shooting. After you kill
the guy, go right. As you enter the room, proceed with caution. Two
guys will come, one from either side. Walk to about the first pillar
(no guys should be coming yet). Then set shields to your right. Then
run right of the shields and set a couple more. The guys will be
shooting at you now. Kill the one to your right, and then the one to
your left. Use the killing strategy mentioned earlier. Proceed to the
right and you will be next to a pit of water.
Scene 9 - TTCT
Dive into the water. Swim all the way down, and then to the left. On
the second screen over, there will be two holes in the rock above you.
Go up the one further to the left and you can catch your breath. Then
swim straight down (2 screens). You should be at the bottom amongst
stalagmites. Swim right and get out of the water. Jump over the little
beasties, and shoot the power line. Then swim back to the top of the
pit where you first dove in.
Scene 10 - HRTB
Get out of the water and go left. Go up the teleporter, and then up the
stairs to the left. Then go right until you get to the room with the
big alien and three doors between you and him. Go about halfway to the
doors and make a shield. Then go up to the doors and they'll open.
Because you made a shield, the guy should start rolling grenades. When
he does, back away. The doors will close and the grenades will kill the
alien. Then go through the doors. Blow a hole in the next door and
continue right. Go up the teleporter and charge your gun. Go back down
it and continue right. You are now at the ceiling level above the guy
to the right of the pit of water. If you look at the green glass balls,
you can see his reflection as he paces. Squat and shoot so that a ball
lands on top of him. Then make your way back to the pit of water. Swim
across. Go right and you'll see the dead alien with shattered glass
around him. Keep going right.
Scene 11 - BRTD
After going right, you will fall down a pit. Shoot the door to your
right with a large laser blast. Then run right. Just keep running.
You will get to a screen with a gate at the right. Along the ceiling
there is an air duct. Stand under that and keep making shields to your
left. Your friend will come and reach his hand down the air duct. Hit
your fire button and he will pull you up.
Scene 12 - TFBB
Go left, behind the rock. Then go right. You will be on a path in the
background. Continue right, past the room where your friend has been
captured. Then go left into the room and kill the alien closest to you.
Just run up, and crouch such that your gun sticks thru the shield, and
fire. Then follow your friend right. Stand at the edge of the cliff,
and he will throw you across. Then after he jumps and is hanging, jump
left. You will fall and grab onto another canopy and swing onto a path.
Put up shields and kill the two guys that come. Then go left.
Scene 13 - TXHF
You should be standing by some stairs. Go left. Aliens are leaving the
room. Run up to the door. It will open. Put out your gun, but don't
shoot. The guy will stick up his arms. Then go right. He will then
close the door permanently. Go right and then go up the stairs. Jump
over the stairs and go to your right. Put up a shield and then blow up
the wall with a large laser blast. The guy will start to roll grenades.
Let him keep roll at least four grenades and then kill him. After his
bones fall apart, walk past the alien's remains and teleport down.
Power up for a large laser blast as soon as you land to destroy the
alien's shield and shoot again to kill him. Then go to the right, over
to the tube and press down. Shoot the power line and then go up. Work
your way back to the stairs and go down them. Notice the hole in the
ground (grenades anyone?). Go down the hole and proceed to the right.
The next screen will go dark. Just keep running. Guys will shoot at
you from under a grate. After you pass the grate, stop. Walk SLOWLY to
the right. When the screen changes, the lights will be back on. Jump
over the hole and pull on the lever. Then go down the hole and run to
the right. Just keep going right until you get to the wall. Then press
up and you will teleport up. Then walk to the left. You will go thru a
door and then your friend will fall. Follow him to the right. After he
teleports, press up and you will teleport. Then follow him to the right
and into the spaceship.
Scene 14 - CKJL
You're in the spaceship. The upper right corner of the screen shows the
ship's control panel. Only two buttons show. Press them both. Then
press the button to the lower left. A new panel of buttons to the left
should turn on. Then press the top four buttons on that panel. A
flashing button will appear. Press that button and you will eject.
Scene 15 - LFCK
Your pod lands poolside among a swarm of female aliens. Get out and run
right. On the next screen over you will have to kill four aliens.
(Shield, shield, big laser, little laser). After killing them, run
right. On the next screen, your friend will bust through the wall.
Follow him right. A laser will then shoot out the ground from under
you. As you fall, another alien catches you. He then kicks you into
the next room. Your friend will come and jump on the other alien, and
when he does, press right to squirm across the floor to a panel of
levers. The alien will throw your friend off the ledge and then come
after you. When he's in the center of the screen, press your fire
button and you will pull the first lever, killing the alien. Quickly,
pull the second lever and a door will open from above. Press left to
make your way to under the hole. When you get there, you will teleport
up. That's the end. Just watch and enjoy.

Keyboard Controls

You can only kick at the beginning of the game when you don't have a
gun. After you pick up the laser gun, the shift, control, and option
keys act as the fire button. Press the fire button down briefly to
point the gun and hold it down a little longer to fire. To activate a
shield, hold the fire button down until the gun starts to hum and then
release. To fire a large laser blast, hold the fire button down until
the ball of energy that appears on the tip of your laser gets larger.
Scene 1 - LDKD
After the nice lab explosion, you appear in a water filled pit on
another world. Press up to swim to the top and up and right to get out.
Go right and kill all those little beasties in the next two screens.
Then keep going right. At about halfway thru the third screen over from
the water, a beast will appear. Run left and just keep running. At the
ledge, jump on the rope. You'll swing back right. Now keep running
right. After you run into the alien, just watch and do nothing.
Scene 2 - HTDC
OK, now you're in a cage. Start swinging left and right. After it
lands on the alien, pick up his gun. Run two screens right and kill the
alien. Move to the right side of the screen and shoot two aliens as
they come from the left. Then go to the next screen to the right, and
your bud should be trying to open the door. Set some shields (hold down
fire until a little glow appears at the end of your gun, then release
it). Set like 2-3 shields to be safe. When the doors to your right
open up, follow your friend right. Take the elevator to the bottom.
Walk into the next screen to the left, shooting as you go. The aim is
to kill a guy as soon as you enter the room. After you kill him, shoot
the little light on the wall. Then take the elevator up one floor. Go
left and blow a hole in the wall (hold down fire until a large glowing
ball appears on your gun, and release it). Then run left and stand over
the teleporter (hole in the floor) and push down. Then continue to run
left. Go up the next teleporter. (Make sure your bud is with you.) Go
left through the door. Your bud will come behind you and open a hole in
the floor. Go down it.
Scene 3 - CLLD
OK, you're rollin' in the pipes. I'll tell you the path, you just avoid
the steam. Left all the way. Fall. Right. Fall. Right. Fall.
Left. Fall. Right. Fall.
Scene 4 - LBKG
Go left and charge your gun. Shoot through the three walls (overload
gun technique). Run right. Shoot the alien on the bridge, and then
move to the edge of the bridge. Jump out and you'll land on a ledge.
Shoot a hole in the wall.
Scene 5 - XDDJ
Fall down first hole to your right. Do this again. You should be
standing on a balancing rock. Go right. Jump over the stalag's and
then continue going right avoiding the falling rocks. You should
encounter some hanging beasties. You can shoot some and they'll go up.
If you can shoot it, use a large laser blast to destroy it. Continue
right avoiding all beasties until you get to a wall. Shoot a hole in
it.
Scene 6 - FXLC
After shooting a hole in the wall, proceed back left. When you get to
where the rocks fall, take the high road, and you'll get to a ledge.
Then go one screen right, and shoot at the bird. Go back left and the
bird will follow you. Run and jump off the ledge and you'll grab onto
the first stalactite. Wait here until the beastie starts to eat the
bird. Then continue left on the stalactites by sliding up them and then
pushing left. Eventually, you'll be on top of the balancing rock.
Scene 7 - KRFK
Fall off the left side of the balancing rock and use a large laser blast
on its base. Then run up it. Continue right, jumping over the pits as
they come. Then use a large laser blast to shoot the foundation out
from under the water. Now run like the wind (left), but make sure not
to fall in the pits. After proceeding left, you'll be standing on a
rock that will get shot up by water underneath it. Now go right.
You'll go up a ramp and then shoot a hole in the wall. Go right, and
then up the stairs. Then continue to go right.
Scene 8 - KLFB
You should be in a room with a bunch of pillars, and your bud should be
crawling underneath you. Go right. Kill the alien. A good strategy to
killing these guys is to set up shields, and then use a large laser
blast to destroy his shield, followed by a quick laser blast to kill
him. After killing him, go right and down the stairs. Go left. Kill
the guy. Then go up the stairs and shoot the middle lamp. You just
released your friend. Now run right and continue to run right. You'll
run into an alien. After he picks you up, press fire to kick him where
it hurts. Run toward your gun, and then press down. You'll roll and
pick up your gun. Stay crouched and just keep shooting. After you kill
the guy, go right. As you enter the room, proceed with caution. Two
guys will come, one from either side. Walk to about the first pillar
(no guys should be coming yet). Then set shields to your right. Then
run right of the shields and set a couple more. The guys will be
shooting at you now. Kill the one to your right, and then the one to
your left. Use the killing strategy mentioned earlier. Proceed to the
right and you will be next to a pit of water.
Scene 9 - TTCT
Dive into the water. Swim all the way down, and then to the left. On
the second screen over, there will be two holes in the rock above you.
Go up the one further to the left and you can catch your breath. Then
swim straight down (2 screens). You should be at the bottom amongst
stalagmites. Swim right and get out of the water. Jump over the little
beasties, and shoot the power line. Then swim back to the top of the
pit where you first dove in.
Scene 10 - HRTB
Get out of the water and go left. Go up the teleporter, and then up the
stairs to the left. Then go right until you get to the room with the
big alien and three doors between you and him. Go about halfway to the
doors and make a shield. Then go up to the doors and they'll open.
Because you made a shield, the guy should start rolling grenades. When
he does, back away. The doors will close and the grenades will kill the
alien. Then go through the doors. Blow a hole in the next door and
continue right. Go up the teleporter and charge your gun. Go back down
it and continue right. You are now at the ceiling level above the guy
to the right of the pit of water. If you look at the green glass balls,
you can see his reflection as he paces. Squat and shoot so that a ball
lands on top of him. Then make your way back to the pit of water. Swim
across. Go right and you'll see the dead alien with shattered glass
around him. Keep going right.
Scene 11 - BRTD
After going right, you will fall down a pit. Shoot the door to your
right with a large laser blast. Then run right. Just keep running.
You will get to a screen with a gate at the right. Along the ceiling
there is an air duct. Stand under that and keep making shields to your
left. Your friend will come and reach his hand down the air duct. Hit
your fire button and he will pull you up.
Scene 12 - TFBB
Go left, behind the rock. Then go right. You will be on a path in the
background. Continue right, past the room where your friend has been
captured. Then go left into the room and kill the alien closest to you.
Just run up, and crouch such that your gun sticks thru the shield, and
fire. Then follow your friend right. Stand at the edge of the cliff,
and he will throw you across. Then after he jumps and is hanging, jump
left. You will fall and grab onto another canopy and swing onto a path.
Put up shields and kill the two guys that come. Then go left.
Scene 13 - TXHF
You should be standing by some stairs. Go left. Aliens are leaving the
room. Run up to the door. It will open. Put out your gun, but don't
shoot. The guy will stick up his arms. Then go right. He will then
close the door permanently. Go right and then go up the stairs. Jump
over the stairs and go to your right. Put up a shield and then blow up
the wall with a large laser blast. The guy will start to roll grenades.
Let him keep roll at least four grenades and then kill him. After his
bones fall apart, walk past the alien's remains and teleport down.
Power up for a large laser blast as soon as you land to destroy the
alien's shield and shoot again to kill him. Then go to the right, over
to the tube and press down. Shoot the power line and then go up. Work
your way back to the stairs and go down them. Notice the hole in the
ground (grenades anyone?). Go down the hole and proceed to the right.
The next screen will go dark. Just keep running. Guys will shoot at
you from under a grate. After you pass the grate, stop. Walk SLOWLY to
the right. When the screen changes, the lights will be back on. Jump
over the hole and pull on the lever. Then go down the hole and run to
the right. Just keep going right until you get to the wall. Then press
up and you will teleport up. Then walk to the left. You will go thru a
door and then your friend will fall. Follow him to the right. After he
teleports, press up and you will teleport. Then follow him to the right
and into the spaceship.
Scene 14 - CKJL
You're in the spaceship. The upper right corner of the screen shows the
ship's control panel. Only two buttons show. Press them both. Then
press the button to the lower left. A new panel of buttons to the left
should turn on. Then press the top four buttons on that panel. A
flashing button will appear. Press that button and you will eject.
Scene 15 - LFCK

Solution #3 for Another World (Out of This World)
SOLVE/WALKTHROUGH
I'm doing this walkthrough from memory, so there may (or may not,
depending on the state of my mind) be some errors/ ommissions. Don't post
me about any; I don't care. I'm just posting this in an attempt to reduce
the same questions about Out Of This World appearing every few days.
This was originally done for the IBM version but some notes have been
added based on the MacIntosh version.
LEVEL 1; Watch the pretty introduction. Zoomph! You appear in the water.
Swim UP, unless you want to watch the drowning scene. After surfacing, run
right. Kill all the crawling leeches in the next two screens, watching out
for the ones falling from the ceiling. If you leave more that one alive on
each screen, life will become difficult later. Run right, until the Black
Panther heebie leaps down, then _immediately_ run left. If you wait around
too long, it'll catch up to you and you'll get sliced and diced. Keep
running left until you get to the chasm with the vine; then jump onto the
vine. This should swing you around one screen to the right. Run like crazy
to the right now (the black panther is still after you). Just keep running
right, and you'll end up meeting with
black_shrouded_dudes_with_guns_and_itchy_trigger_fingers (tm). End of level.
LEVEL 2; Listen to the cool sounds (on SBPRO anyway) as you awaken. Rock
the cage left and right, whilst you watch the guard strip. Keep rocking,
ignoring his pistol shots and gibbering. Splat guard as cage breaks the
chain holding it. Pick up pistol and run one screen right. Your friend
will run off the right side of the screen, then run back. You should kneel
and pump a few shots off to the right, until you kill the guard chasing your
friend. Run one more screen to the right, then wait on the far right of
that screen, facing left. Your friend will go on to the next right screen,
and you have to provide cover as he fixes the door. Kill two guards, coming
from the left. This is easy, as they give you heaps of time. Run right,
and keep running (on the spot in front of the door since your friend hasn't
yet finished). He finishes just in time. Go to the elevator platform, and
wait til you friend gets on, then go up. In the dome, run to the right and
enjoy the tunz and pics. (pretty heh?). Go back to the platform, and after
your friend gets on, go _all_ the way to the bottom. With your hand on the
trigger, run left and _as_soon_ as the next screen appears, duck and fire.
You should be fast enough since you ran on to blast the guard here. (If you
walk on, you usually get blasted). Shoot the thing on the left wall, and
the glowing thread should stop glowing. Go back to the platform, and go up
one level (making sure your friend comes along). Go left and blast the wall
away. At this point your gun _always_ is out of charge, so don't worry.
The guard below can't get out (since you've deactivated the doors from
below), but he'll try to blast out. Ignore him, go down, left, up, and to
the next screen to the left. If you do this quickly enough, it doesn't
matter how slow your friend is, as the computer will have him catch up.
Stand ontop of the small floor defect, and wait. Your friend should open
the drain cover, and you'll drop in.
LEVEL 3; Rolling, rolling, rolling. (so, I can't sing. Sue me). The trick
here is timing, so practice is the main thing. Roll left; there'll be a
steam blast ahead. Drop down and roll right; ahead is another steam blast.
Drop down again between two steam blasts, and (timing is hard here) roll
right. I think the rest is obvious, from memory. If you try to roll any
other directions, you end up on a long drop.
LEVEL 4; Dropping out of the pipe, you should go left and recharge your
gun. Blow away the doors to the right, then recharge your gun again. Go
right, and out of the building. One guard is just outside the building, but
he's easy to kill. Keep running right, until you get to the chasm, then do
a running jump across it. You should land on a ledge on the far side.
Shoot a hole into the wall to your right, and go through.
LEVEL 5; In the underground. Go down as far as you can, until you reach a '
T' shaped rock. From here, go right. The avalaches can be dodged with a
bit of patience; if you wait a while, a pattern in the falling rocks becomes
obvious. Keep going right; some of the ceiling tentacles may be shot to
MAKE THEM DRAW UP FOR A TIME. THE OTHERS MUST BE RUN UNDER (THEY'RE TOO SLOW
to catch you if you're running). When you reach the floor hole, keep
running (you'll be back here later). Finally, you should reach a wall; blow
it away. ADDED NOTE: In the last area of falling stones and in the area
where the tentacles are above floor mouths, you can destroy the tentacle
things. Kneel down and make a superblast (you fire a shot first which makes
the tentacles draw up and you don't want that). Stand up and blast a tentacle.
Makes it easier.
LEVEL 6; I personally found this difficult for some reason. Run left,
dodging the creatures as before, until you get to the first room with the
avalanche. The rocks can't hurt you when you're on the higher ledge. Keep
going left; in the second avalanche room is a bat thing on the ceiling.
Shoot it to make it fly, then carefully follow it off to the left. In the
next screen, the bat should fly into the tentacle creature's grasp,
occupying it usefully. Jump onto the stalagtite, then to the next one, and
so on. You may move up and down slightly on the stalagtites. Jump off the
screen.
LEVEL 7; You should have jumped onto the T shaped rock. Note that if you
haven't done level 5 and 6, you could have gone on in the game, but further
on you would have been stuck. Fall off the left side of the rock, and
obliterate the small piece of rock to the right, holding up the main mass.
Run up the resultant ramp, and to the right. Keep running right (don't fall
down any holes!), until you get to the room with the lake dangerously
overhead. Standing as far left as you are able, blow away the lake support
and watch the cool graphics as the lake begins to flood the caverns you're
in. RUN AWAY! To the left. Depending on how fast you are, you can either
do standing or running jumps over the holes. Keep running left until you
can't go any furthur (you should be standing on a piece of something. Not
rock anyway). The water will rush up, propelling you into the air. Run
right, blowing away the intervening wall. Go up the stairs and run right.
LEVEL 8; Watch and laugh at your trapped friend! HAHAHAHA! Go one screen
to the right, and while standing on top of the stairs, fire a shot. A guard
will appear from the right side of the screen. Careful! he's mean. So
cheat. Run back left and hide behind a force field. His force field will
appear waaay in the bottom right, while he'll appear at your level. Zap!
Fried heebie! ADDED NOTE: This guard appears when you are halfway
across the floor area. Be ready and you can nail him when he appears.
Go back left, down the stairs and right across the spillway.
In the next screen, don't go down the stairs! Standing at the top of the
stairs, shoot once and watch the chandelier fall. This will free your
friend above, and bring a guard from the right. As with the last guard, if
you run left to the next screen, put up a shield and wait, the guard will
appear, but his shield will be several feet too low to protect him! Hee
hee! Toast!!! ADDED NOTE: Before shooting the chandelier, go to the
middle of the room and fire two fairly quick shots to the right. The guard
appears after the first and you nail him with the second.
Go left, back up the stair, then right. You'll see your
friend is gone, and if you run right one more screen, you'll see him slide
down a tube in the bottom left corner. Go right and marvel at the
indestructable heebie who runs away, invulnerable to the shots you pump into
his cowardly back. Follow the stairs down, and use the whisher to get to
the bottom part of the screen (the whisher is the up-down teleporter thing.
I'm too lazy to think of a technical term). Go right and watch yourself get
beaten up. As the heebie lifts you, watch your body. See your head go up?
Then press fire and you'll kick the heebie in the stomache (ok... it's
_maybe_ a little lower than the stomache. Are you insinuating I don't fight
fair?) Run left and do a cool diving roll onto your gun, then be so
surprised you almost forget to press fire and blow the heebie away.
ADDED NOTE: The part before using the whisher can be done later.
Go right one screen. Now this is a tricky bit, and if you get it wrong, you'll
have to do the whole level again. Two guards will appear, one from the
right, one from the left. The best method so far is to move across until
just before the guards appear, put up a shield to the right, move forward
and make the guards appear, wheel around, and put up a shield to the left.
Then quickly kill the left guard using the gun's super blast, turn and put
up another shield to the right _just_ in time to save yourself. The last
guard is easy from there. All this takes practice, and perseverence.
LEVEL 8.5; There's a bit on the last level I always do after this, but you
probably can do it before. Run up to the top of the stairs in level 8 (
where you saw the cowardly-though-indestructable heebie. Run right and you'
ll see the blighter hiding behind multiple layers of shields. Put up your
own shield _before_ you get to the doors. (otherwise you'll be blasted).
Step forward _just_ enough to open the doors, then step back and let them
close. The heebie should panic and release little glow balls which pass
unmolested through shields. Unfortunately, they also bounce off closed
doors. Blooie! No more heebie. Run right, blowing away the door. In the
next room is a recharger you may as well use (although I've never personally
run out of charge except on level 2). In the next room is a dome, with
green globes reflecting _something_ beneath. It's a guard you'll meet
later. Try to time it so that when you duck and fire, he'll be underneath
the globe whose chain is in your line of sight. Aim and blooie! What you
missed? Don't worry. I've never killed him like that either. Go out of
the room and return. The guard should be back to his pacing. Again aim
using the remaining globes, and when he's underneath, fire! Crash, and the
guard goes down under an imaginary globe!
You can do all of that at 8.5 or 9.5. ADDED NOTE: If you watch the
pace in the reflection of the globe, you can tell when he stops and you can
get him then. In the Mac version, it is essential to do this before continuing
to level 9 because the guard is on the screen after the two guards.
LEVEL 9; Go to the spot where you killed the guards coming from either side
if you did 8.5 You should be still there if you didn't. Go right, and meet
a lake. You remember the wall you blew away at the end of level 5? Well
the water you flooded the caverns with rushed through the gap and in here.
Good thing you did it eh? Jump into (or fall if you want) the water, and
swim _down_. If you go right, you'll just have troubles later. Swim left
at the bottom of the shaft. You should enter a room with two up shafts and
one down shaft. Swim _up_ the _leftmost_ up shaft. If you don't, you
suffer from drowning. Cool eh? After breathing from the air pocket there,
swim down, and down again into the down shaft. Go right, and avoiding the
critters, shoot the glowing line on the rightmost wall. After that, go all
the way back to the top of the pool (don't forget to use the airpocket
again).
LEVEL 9.5; If you didn't do 8.5, do it now. ADDED NOTE: You have to
8.5 before 9 in the MAC version.
LEVEL 10; Go right, and fall down the gap in the floor. In what seems like
a peaceful room, if you stop to admire the scenery, you'll be deaded. (
Killed for those literate ones amongst you). Blow away the right wall, and
ignoring the shots peppering the air about you, run like the wind to the
left. (just joking!) RUN RIGHT YOU FOOL! You'll notice how the doors
closing behind you _just_ save you from getting the back of your head
fried. You finally reach a dead end. Ignore it, and put up a shield to
your left. Blow away the hordes of enemy who come at you, at wait your
time. Finally, a part of the ceiling opens, and an arm waves about. Stand
under it, and be rescued!
LEVEL 11; It's your friend! (See? Aren't you glad you rescued him now?).
He runs to the right; ignore him and run to the left side of the screen,
then right on the ledge that you though was part of the background. Pass
behind a building and see your friend is captured, then leap of the ledge to
the right of the building. Run left into the building, and if you're quick,
run forward enough to use the shield already standing there. The poor
heebie behind it gets crisped straight away, and your friend (after a quick
struggle) takes care of the second one. Run right, making sure your friend
is in the lead. Before the edge of the chasm, stop. When your friend
beckons you, run at him, and with a mighty throw, he (I'm assuming it's a
he, since we see the babe heebie's later) tosses you across. Then with
another mighty effort, he flings himself after you and learns the benefits
of dieting. Stuck eh? Just jump left off the ledge. After falling a bit,
you grab an awning and swing onto a ledge. Put up a shield and kill the
guards who come from the left side of the screen. Careful- they're mean and
will toast you if you're too slow.
LEVEL 12; Run left as far as you can, and watch with glee as you enter a
room filled with fleeing heebies. Laugh as one gets locked out. Walk up to
the door seperating you from him, and stop when it opens. Nail your trigger
finger to the table for the moment. Pull out your gun. (if you want a
laugh, kill him, and run forward. Or better still, just run forward). The
heebie surrenders, then hits a trigger that locks all the doors on the
screen (this is good). Run to the right, then up the stairs. At the top,
jump to the far right side of the screen, put up a shield to your left and
blow away the way between you and the guard there. Allow him to keep
tossing blue glowing things down the stairs for a while (I think you need 3
or 4 down the stairs), then toast him. Run left and use the whizzer. In
the level below, face right and power up your gun for the blue laser blast.
The guard to your right helpfully blows away the door, so blow away his
shield. Then just use a normal shot to kill him. Use the whizzer to go
down, shoot the blue line on the right wall, then go back up. Head down the
stairs. ADDED NOTE: Don't kill the guy who surrenders. If you do, then
the guy won't throw the glowing grenades.
At the bottom is a hole, blown in the floor by the blue glowing
round things. Fall down it and run right. The next room hasn't lights (you
shot them out when you shot the blue line). Run right, ignoring the lasers
shots, and on the far right side of the screen, JUMP! The next screen has a
hole in the floor just as you come in. Don't fall into it! (unless you want
to see what lies below _before_ utter chaos). Pull the lever and then drop
through the hole in the floor. In the chaos below, ignore everything and
run right. (I usually face left, put up a shield and then run right, but
sometimes get killed doing it. Apparently you can just run right; I haven't
checked this yet.) Ignore the lasers shooting past you. About two or three
screens on, there is a whizzer up; if you miss it or take too long going up,
you get toasted, so you only have one try. After you go up, go left and
rescue your friend with the extending bridge. Run right (if you're too
slow, as you cross the down whizzer, you get shot). Watch what your friend
does in the strange wall marking, and do it yourself. Follow your friend to
the right.
LEVEL 13; The Tank. Just hit _all_ the buttons. A full list is
one missile fire

-actually, thats not a _full_ list; simply all I can remember. The _only_
way to escape is to use the escape pod.
LEVEL 14; Final level. Run right. Kill the 4 guards on the next screen.
Run right. Meet your friend. Fall. Get beaten up. Crawl right. Wait
until the evil heebie (with red eyes I think) is about to step under the sky
light and press fire. If you are as right as you can get, you pull a lever
and he dies. Pull another lever and crawl left. The first two barrages of
lasers _always_ miss if you freeze when they fire. The third _always_ hits,
so you'd better hurry. When you crawl into the light, whizz up. Crawl
right a bit and watch yourself collapse. That's it!!! You're well and
truly stuffed, and that's all you can do except watch the ending.

SOLVE/WALKTHROUGH
I'm doing this walkthrough from memory, so there may (or may not,
depending on the state of my mind) be some errors/ ommissions. Don't post
me about any; I don't care. I'm just posting this in an attempt to reduce
the same questions about Out Of This World appearing every few days.
This was originally done for the IBM version but some notes have been
added based on the MacIntosh version.
LEVEL 1; Watch the pretty introduction. Zoomph! You appear in the water.
Swim UP, unless you want to watch the drowning scene. After surfacing, run
right. Kill all the crawling leeches in the next two screens, watching out
for the ones falling from the ceiling. If you leave more that one alive on
each screen, life will become difficult later. Run right, until the Black
Panther heebie leaps down, then _immediately_ run left. If you wait around
too long, it'll catch up to you and you'll get sliced and diced. Keep
running left until you get to the chasm with the vine; then jump onto the
vine. This should swing you around one screen to the right. Run like crazy
to the right now (the black panther is still after you). Just keep running
right, and you'll end up meeting with
black_shrouded_dudes_with_guns_and_itchy_trigger_fingers (tm). End of level.
LEVEL 2; Listen to the cool sounds (on SBPRO anyway) as you awaken. Rock
the cage left and right, whilst you watch the guard strip. Keep rocking,
ignoring his pistol shots and gibbering. Splat guard as cage breaks the
chain holding it. Pick up pistol and run one screen right. Your friend
will run off the right side of the screen, then run back. You should kneel
and pump a few shots off to the right, until you kill the guard chasing your
friend. Run one more screen to the right, then wait on the far right of
that screen, facing left. Your friend will go on to the next right screen,
and you have to provide cover as he fixes the door. Kill two guards, coming
from the left. This is easy, as they give you heaps of time. Run right,
and keep running (on the spot in front of the door since your friend hasn't
yet finished). He finishes just in time. Go to the elevator platform, and
wait til you friend gets on, then go up. In the dome, run to the right and
enjoy the tunz and pics. (pretty heh?). Go back to the platform, and after
your friend gets on, go _all_ the way to the bottom. With your hand on the
trigger, run left and _as_soon_ as the next screen appears, duck and fire.
You should be fast enough since you ran on to blast the guard here. (If you
walk on, you usually get blasted). Shoot the thing on the left wall, and
the glowing thread should stop glowing. Go back to the platform, and go up
one level (making sure your friend comes along). Go left and blast the wall
away. At this point your gun _always_ is out of charge, so don't worry.
The guard below can't get out (since you've deactivated the doors from
below), but he'll try to blast out. Ignore him, go down, left, up, and to
the next screen to the left. If you do this quickly enough, it doesn't
matter how slow your friend is, as the computer will have him catch up.
Stand ontop of the small floor defect, and wait. Your friend should open
the drain cover, and you'll drop in.
LEVEL 3; Rolling, rolling, rolling. (so, I can't sing. Sue me). The trick
here is timing, so practice is the main thing. Roll left; there'll be a
steam blast ahead. Drop down and roll right; ahead is another steam blast.
Drop down again between two steam blasts, and (timing is hard here) roll
right. I think the rest is obvious, from memory. If you try to roll any
other directions, you end up on a long drop.
LEVEL 4; Dropping out of the pipe, you should go left and recharge your
gun. Blow away the doors to the right, then recharge your gun again. Go
right, and out of the building. One guard is just outside the building, but
he's easy to kill. Keep running right, until you get to the chasm, then do
a running jump across it. You should land on a ledge on the far side.
Shoot a hole into the wall to your right, and go through.
LEVEL 5; In the underground. Go down as far as you can, until you reach a '
T' shaped rock. From here, go right. The avalaches can be dodged with a
bit of patience; if you wait a while, a pattern in the falling rocks becomes
obvious. Keep going right; some of the ceiling tentacles may be shot to
MAKE THEM DRAW UP FOR A TIME. THE OTHERS MUST BE RUN UNDER (THEY'RE TOO SLOW
to catch you if you're running). When you reach the floor hole, keep
running (you'll be back here later). Finally, you should reach a wall; blow
it away. ADDED NOTE: In the last area of falling stones and in the area
where the tentacles are above floor mouths, you can destroy the tentacle
things. Kneel down and make a superblast (you fire a shot first which makes
the tentacles draw up and you don't want that). Stand up and blast a tentacle.
Makes it easier.
LEVEL 6; I personally found this difficult for some reason. Run left,
dodging the creatures as before, until you get to the first room with the
avalanche. The rocks can't hurt you when you're on the higher ledge. Keep
going left; in the second avalanche room is a bat thing on the ceiling.
Shoot it to make it fly, then carefully follow it off to the left. In the
next screen, the bat should fly into the tentacle creature's grasp,
occupying it usefully. Jump onto the stalagtite, then to the next one, and
so on. You may move up and down slightly on the stalagtites. Jump off the
screen.
LEVEL 7; You should have jumped onto the T shaped rock. Note that if you
haven't done level 5 and 6, you could have gone on in the game, but further
on you would have been stuck. Fall off the left side of the rock, and
obliterate the small piece of rock to the right, holding up the main mass.
Run up the resultant ramp, and to the right. Keep running right (don't fall
down any holes!), until you get to the room with the lake dangerously
overhead. Standing as far left as you are able, blow away the lake support
and watch the cool graphics as the lake begins to flood the caverns you're
in. RUN AWAY! To the left. Depending on how fast you are, you can either
do standing or running jumps over the holes. Keep running left until you
can't go any furthur (you should be standing on a piece of something. Not
rock anyway). The water will rush up, propelling you into the air. Run
right, blowing away the intervening wall. Go up the stairs and run right.
LEVEL 8; Watch and laugh at your trapped friend! HAHAHAHA! Go one screen
to the right, and while standing on top of the stairs, fire a shot. A guard
will appear from the right side of the screen. Careful! he's mean. So
cheat. Run back left and hide behind a force field. His force field will
appear waaay in the bottom right, while he'll appear at your level. Zap!
Fried heebie! ADDED NOTE: This guard appears when you are halfway
across the floor area. Be ready and you can nail him when he appears.
Go back left, down the stairs and right across the spillway.
In the next screen, don't go down the stairs! Standing at the top of the
stairs, shoot once and watch the chandelier fall. This will free your
friend above, and bring a guard from the right. As with the last guard, if
you run left to the next screen, put up a shield and wait, the guard will
appear, but his shield will be several feet too low to protect him! Hee
hee! Toast!!! ADDED NOTE: Before shooting the chandelier, go to the
middle of the room and fire two fairly quick shots to the right. The guard
appears after the first and you nail him with the second.
Go left, back up the stair, then right. You'll see your
friend is gone, and if you run right one more screen, you'll see him slide
down a tube in the bottom left corner. Go right and marvel at the
indestructable heebie who runs away, invulnerable to the shots you pump into
his cowardly back. Follow the stairs down, and use the whisher to get to
the bottom part of the screen (the whisher is the up-down teleporter thing.
I'm too lazy to think of a technical term). Go right and watch yourself get
beaten up. As the heebie lifts you, watch your body. See your head go up?
Then press fire and you'll kick the heebie in the stomache (ok... it's
_maybe_ a little lower than the stomache. Are you insinuating I don't fight
fair?) Run left and do a cool diving roll onto your gun, then be so
surprised you almost forget to press fire and blow the heebie away.
ADDED NOTE: The part before using the whisher can be done later.
Go right one screen. Now this is a tricky bit, and if you get it wrong, you'll
have to do the whole level again. Two guards will appear, one from the
right, one from the left. The best method so far is to move across until
just before the guards appear, put up a shield to the right, move forward
and make the guards appear, wheel around, and put up a shield to the left.
Then quickly kill the left guard using the gun's super blast, turn and put
up another shield to the right _just_ in time to save yourself. The last
guard is easy from there. All this takes practice, and perseverence.
LEVEL 8.5; There's a bit on the last level I always do after this, but you
probably can do it before. Run up to the top of the stairs in level 8 (
where you saw the cowardly-though-indestructable heebie. Run right and you'
ll see the blighter hiding behind multiple layers of shields. Put up your
own shield _before_ you get to the doors. (otherwise you'll be blasted).
Step forward _just_ enough to open the doors, then step back and let them
close. The heebie should panic and release little glow balls which pass
unmolested through shields. Unfortunately, they also bounce off closed
doors. Blooie! No more heebie. Run right, blowing away the door. In the
next room is a recharger you may as well use (although I've never personally
run out of charge except on level 2). In the next room is a dome, with
green globes reflecting _something_ beneath. It's a guard you'll meet
later. Try to time it so that when you duck and fire, he'll be underneath
the globe whose chain is in your line of sight. Aim and blooie! What you
missed? Don't worry. I've never killed him like that either. Go out of
the room and return. The guard should be back to his pacing. Again aim
using the remaining globes, and when he's underneath, fire! Crash, and the
guard goes down under an imaginary globe!
You can do all of that at 8.5 or 9.5. ADDED NOTE: If you watch the
pace in the reflection of the globe, you can tell when he stops and you can
get him then. In the Mac version, it is essential to do this before continuing
to level 9 because the guard is on the screen after the two guards.
LEVEL 9; Go to the spot where you killed the guards coming from either side
if you did 8.5 You should be still there if you didn't. Go right, and meet
a lake. You remember the wall you blew away at the end of level 5? Well
the water you flooded the caverns with rushed through the gap and in here.
Good thing you did it eh? Jump into (or fall if you want) the water, and
swim _down_. If you go right, you'll just have troubles later. Swim left
at the bottom of the shaft. You should enter a room with two up shafts and
one down shaft. Swim _up_ the _leftmost_ up shaft. If you don't, you
suffer from drowning. Cool eh? After breathing from the air pocket there,
swim down, and down again into the down shaft. Go right, and avoiding the
critters, shoot the glowing line on the rightmost wall. After that, go all
the way back to the top of the pool (don't forget to use the airpocket
again).
LEVEL 9.5; If you didn't do 8.5, do it now. ADDED NOTE: You have to
8.5 before 9 in the MAC version.
LEVEL 10; Go right, and fall down the gap in the floor. In what seems like
a peaceful room, if you stop to admire the scenery, you'll be deaded. (
Killed for those literate ones amongst you). Blow away the right wall, and
ignoring the shots peppering the air about you, run like the wind to the
left. (just joking!) RUN RIGHT YOU FOOL! You'll notice how the doors
closing behind you _just_ save you from getting the back of your head
fried. You finally reach a dead end. Ignore it, and put up a shield to
your left. Blow away the hordes of enemy who come at you, at wait your
time. Finally, a part of the ceiling opens, and an arm waves about. Stand
under it, and be rescued!
LEVEL 11; It's your friend! (See? Aren't you glad you rescued him now?).
He runs to the right; ignore him and run to the left side of the screen,
then right on the ledge that you though was part of the background. Pass
behind a building and see your friend is captured, then leap of the ledge to
the right of the building. Run left into the building, and if you're quick,
run forward enough to use the shield already standing there. The poor
heebie behind it gets crisped straight away, and your friend (after a quick
struggle) takes care of the second one. Run right, making sure your friend
is in the lead. Before the edge of the chasm, stop. When your friend
beckons you, run at him, and with a mighty throw, he (I'm assuming it's a
he, since we see the babe heebie's later) tosses you across. Then with
another mighty effort, he flings himself after you and learns the benefits
of dieting. Stuck eh? Just jump left off the ledge. After falling a bit,
you grab an awning and swing onto a ledge. Put up a shield and kill the
guards who come from the left side of the screen. Careful- they're mean and
will toast you if you're too slow.
LEVEL 12; Run left as far as you can, and watch with glee as you enter a
room filled with fleeing heebies. Laugh as one gets locked out. Walk up to
the door seperating you from him, and stop when it opens. Nail your trigger
finger to the table for the moment. Pull out your gun. (if you want a
laugh, kill him, and run forward. Or better still, just run forward). The
heebie surrenders, then hits a trigger that locks all the doors on the
screen (this is good). Run to the right, then up the stairs. At the top,
jump to the far right side of the screen, put up a shield to your left and
blow away the way between you and the guard there. Allow him to keep
tossing blue glowing things down the stairs for a while (I think you need 3
or 4 down the stairs), then toast him. Run left and use the whizzer. In
the level below, face right and power up your gun for the blue laser blast.
The guard to your right helpfully blows away the door, so blow away his
shield. Then just use a normal shot to kill him. Use the whizzer to go
down, shoot the blue line on the right wall, then go back up. Head down the
stairs. ADDED NOTE: Don't kill the guy who surrenders. If you do, then
the guy won't throw the glowing grenades.
At the bottom is a hole, blown in the floor by the blue glowing
round things. Fall down it and run right. The next room hasn't lights (you
shot them out when you shot the blue line). Run right, ignoring the lasers
shots, and on the far right side of the screen, JUMP! The next screen has a
hole in the floor just as you come in. Don't fall into it! (unless you want
to see what lies below _before_ utter chaos). Pull the lever and then drop
through the hole in the floor. In the chaos below, ignore everything and
run right. (I usually face left, put up a shield and then run right, but
sometimes get killed doing it. Apparently you can just run right; I haven't
checked this yet.) Ignore the lasers shooting past you. About two or three
screens on, there is a whizzer up; if you miss it or take too long going up,
you get toasted, so you only have one try. After you go up, go left and
rescue your friend with the extending bridge. Run right (if you're too
slow, as you cross the down whizzer, you get shot). Watch what your friend
does in the strange wall marking, and do it yourself. Follow your friend to
the right.
LEVEL 13; The Tank. Just hit _all_ the buttons. A full list is
one missile fire

emergence buttons (including escape pod- important!)

-actually, thats not a _full_ list; simply all I can remember. The _only_
way to escape is to use the escape pod.
LEVEL 14; Final level. Run right. Kill the 4 guards on the next screen.
Run right. Meet your friend. Fall. Get beaten up. Crawl right. Wait
until the evil heebie (with red eyes I think) is about to step under the sky
light and press fire. If you are as right as you can get, you pull a lever
and he dies. Pull another lever and crawl left. The first two barrages of
lasers _always_ miss if you freeze when they fire. The third _always_ hits,
so you'd better hurry. When you crawl into the light, whizz up. Crawl
right a bit and watch yourself collapse. That's it!!! You're well and
truly stuffed, and that's all you can do except watch the ending.

Solution #4 for Another World (Out of This World)
Walkthrough
Level 1
Watch the introduction. Your character will be teleported and will reappear in
water. Swim up. After surfacing, run right.
Kill all the crawling leeches in the next two screens, watching out for the
ones that fall from the ceiling.
Run right, until the black carnivore leaps down. Immediately run left. Keep
running left the chasm with the vine appears; then jump onto the vine. Your
character will swing around one screen to the right. Run to the right (the
black carnivore will follow). Keep running right, and your character will meet
black shrouded aliens with guns.

Level 2
After your character wakes, rock the cage left and right, while watching the
guard change clothing. Keep rocking, and ignore his pistol shots and
gibbering. The chains holding the cage will break, crushing the guard when it
hits the ground.
Pick up pistol and run one screen right. Your friend will run off the right
side of the screen, then run back. Kneel and fire a few shots off to the
right, until the guard chasing your friend is killed.
Run one screen to the right, then wait on the far right of that screen, facing
left. Your friend will go on to the next screen to the right. Your character
must provide cover as he opens a door. Kill the two guards that will appear
from the left.
Run right and wait for your friend to open the door. Go right, to the elevator
platform, and wait until your friend gets on. Go up. In the dome, run to the
right to view your character's location.
Return to the platform. After your friend gets on, go to the bottom. Run left
and when the next screen appears, immediately duck and fire. Shoot the circuit
on the left wall, and the glowing line will dim.
Return to the platform, wait for your friend, and go up one level. Go left and
blast the wall away. At this point the gun will be empty. The guard below can
not get out because the doors have been deactivated from below, but he will
try to blast out. Ignore him. Go down, left, up, and to the next screen to the
left. Your friend will always catch up. Stand on top of the small defect on
the floor, and wait. Your friend will open the drain cover, and your character
will drop down.

Level 3
The trick here is timing, so practice is important. Roll left; there will be a
steam blast ahead. Drop down and roll right; another steam blast will appear
ahead. Drop down again between the two steam blasts, and roll right. Continue
to roll in the most logical direction until your character drops out of the
maze.

Level 4
After your character drops out of the pipe, go left and recharge the gun. Blow
away the doors to the right, then recharge the gun again.
Go right, until your character leaves the building. Kill the guard that is
just outside the building.
Keep running right, until the chasm appears, then do a running jump to get
across. Your character will land on a ledge on the far side. Shoot a hole into
the wall on the right, and enter.

Level 5
Your character is in the underground. Go down as far as possible, until a 'T'
shaped rock appears. From here, go right.
The avalanches can be dodged with some patience. There is an obvious pattern

first room with the avalanche. The rocks are harmless when your character is
on the higher ledge. Keep going left. A bat-like creature will be on the
ceiling of the second avalanche room. Shoot it to make it fly, then carefully
follow it to the left. In the next screen, the bat will fly into the tentacle
creature's grasp, occupying its attention. Jump onto the stalactite, then to
the next one, and so on. Your character may move up and down slightly on the
stalactites. Jump off the screen to the left.

Level 7
Your character will appear on the T shaped rock. Walk off the left side of the
rock, and shoot the small piece of rock to the right that is holding up the
main section of rock. Run up the newly created ramp, and to the right.
Keep running right, jumping over the holes, until a room with an overhead lake
appears. Standing as far to the left as possible, blow away the lake support
to flood the caverns. Run to the left. Depending on how fast you are, you can
either do standing or running jumps over the holes. Keep running left until
your character cannot go any further, and is standing on a platform in the
rock. The water will rush up, propelling your character into the air. Run
right, blowing away the intervening wall. Go up the stairs and run right.

Level 8
Go one screen to the right, and while standing on top of the stairs, fire a
shot. A guard will appear from the right side of the screen. Run back to the
left and hide behind a force field. His force field will appear far to the
bottom right, while he will appear at your level. Fire your gun when this
happens. (This guard appears when your character is halfway across the floor
area. Be ready to shoot and he can be killed when he appears without having to
retreat.)
Go back left, down the stairs and right across the spillway. In the next
screen, stand at the top of the stairs, shoot once and watch the chandelier
fall. This will free your friend, who is trapped above, and will bring a guard
from the right. As with the last guard, if it runs left to the next screen,
put up a shield and wait, the guard will appear, but his shield will be
several feet too low to protect him! (Before shooting the chandelier, your
character may go to the middle of the room and fire two fairly quick shots to
the right. The guard will appear after the first shot and will be killed with
the second shot.)
Go left, back up the stairs, then right. Your friend will be gone, and if your
character runs right one more screen, he may be seen sliding down a tube in
the bottom left corner.
Go right. The guard that runs away upon your character's entrance in this area
can not be killed. Follow the stairs down, and use the teleporter to get to
